Let's talk about blogging

So I decided to finally come clean.

I am not a morning person. And even further... I only like to blog at night. For some reason, it's the only time I can post with little hesitation. I loathe "to schedule" posts, because I usually end up rewriting and over-editing. And if I wake up and realize I hate what I wrote the night before, chances are no one read it. Then I can quickly turn that sucker back into a draft! SAFE!

So I've decided to do what I like, and get my thoughts out at night. So if you read this lil ol blog (anyone? Lol) I will most likely post at night. And announcing "I blogged" on social media actually gives me the willies. So I doubt I'll do much of that. I think I spent too much time worrying about when to post to maximize exposure, what to write, what interests others.. Etc.  and eventually blogging became a hobby that I half-enjoyed.  I never started this blog for others, so peace out to that.

My first blog post about blogging. Haha. Muy complicado.

Anyways, I threw some shade at New York yesterday. And because that made me feel kinda bad, I decided to tell you what I really liked in NY. There were a few things....like

1. Cinderella on Broadway. Oh em Geee. This show was so amazing. And perfect for my 5-year-old niece in tow.

2. Victor's Cafe around Broadway. BEST Latin food I've had in a long time.

3. Peking duck in Chinatown. A semi-nice resto that doesn't feel too hole in the wall-ish...that's kinda hard to find in Chinatown. And the food was amaze.

4. That huge screen in Times Square that you can see yourself on. See if you can find me, where's Waldo style!

I swear I'm there!

5.  Grabbing a plain bagel with this little one. She's so grown up!! Wahhhh.

Now, going to the Statue of Liberty and riding the Staten Island ferry was a complete waste of space in my humble opinion.

My niece totally thought so too, but she played it cool.

Glad we settled that. Over and out.

The last time we talked...

I was heading to New York, but to be completely honest I didn't really like that place. But that's ok, because I'm heading to California next week.  And drinking sleepy time tea in my California mug.

Take that New York.

Totally random, my new favorite thing is drinking out of mugs I feel are relevant to something current. I didn't even buy a New York coffee mug, convincing me further that I never really liked that place. Anybody ever do a mug swap? I feel like that would be really fun.

Anywhodoodle. I just booked our FIRST big vacation since our Honeymoon. We are headed to Costa Rica!!!! We're gonna love on all the little baby monkeys, go chill by a volcano and generally pretend we are on the national geographic channel. I'm gonna get so many bug bites, and it's gonna be awesomesauce. Costa Rica or bust my friends. Time for an adventure! And that's all for now, because I'm a particularly ramblesome mood.

It's my blogiversary.. and I'm running late as usual.

Hello my loves, it's my blogiversary! 1 full year of blogging, and while it did not make me rich I have met new friends and all kinds of other jazzy things have happened.

For one, I got a free blowdryer. Totally rad. Review coming soon, I promise Brian.

I was enabled to stalk lots of strangers. This was by far, one of my all-time favorite things. I knew there was life after facebook, so glad I found it!

I learned about all the fresh fashion trends, and bought into none of them. That's right friends, I bought a house instead (and 100 bottles of nail polish..). That equals 1,046 items of cute clothing. I'll try harder next year in the fashion department, I promise.

I found an outlet where my usual word vomit was actually semi-appreciated. This was in fact Priceless. Wouldn't trade this fo nothin'.

But truly, in all seriousness, I met some great friends, discovered all kinds of things about others, and myself. This has been an outlet for me, and for that I am eternally grateful. Blog world, I love you. I really, really do.

and of course, I procrastinated, but I super duper pinky promise... I"m posting my first EVER giveaway tomorrow! As my way of saying thank you, I hope my ramblings helped pass the time
whenever you were watching TV, bored.
OR Standing in line at the grocery store, bored.
OR Sitting at some government office, renewing some government document, bored.
BUT most likely, you were sitting at your desk, at work, bored.

and PS. my hair isn't drastic enough,Going back in a week for the REAL transformation. I posted some pics on Insta, so follow me there. My name is modernsuburbaniiiite

and I'm out.

What kind of bride were you?

****Introspective, mushy gushy post ahead! Consider yourself warned!****

I was a hyper bride, no doubt... see below

A Picture is Worth 1000 Words...Or 510.

I keep coming back to this picture. It isn’t beautiful, or well shot. Its not in focus, no one is even looking, yet I keep coming back to it. And staring at it. I look at this picture and it just sums up exactly what kind of bride I was. Hyper, and ready to go. Everything was done, and I was rushing out of that house so fast – and everyone was just scrambling to keep up. I didn’t announce ‘Lets go,’ and wait for everyone, I just simply got up and started walking.

Wedding planning is an extremely overwhelming process. One minute you are on cloud 9, the next you are arguing with your relative about how something should be done. Then you argue with your fiancé some more about how your relative is arguing with you. And then you are on cloud 9 again. Every bride and wedding is different, but this is how it was for me. It was exhilarating. I had an energy that was just non-stop, and I moved from task to task super fast.

These feelings of exhilaration, and a need to resolve everything right then, told me outright – I could not have a long engagement. No way jose, it would have killed me. Our engagement was about 7 months. We set a date on Dec. 30, 2011 (my goal was to have ceremony and venue confirmed by New Year’s), and got hitched on May 19, 2012. Pretty fast I think. I am grateful I have this blog to look back and remember. Seriously.

I can honestly say, our wedding and honeymoon were the best days of my life. I am still beaming. But these amazing moments didn’t fall out of the sky, we worked so hard to make them that way. Matthew and I were saving and making sacrifices long before we got engaged, and a big part of why I am so happy is because I can finally say ‘we did it!’

I could go on and on about my how I felt through the process, but this post would be too long for any avid internet’s surfers’ attention span. And all you bloggy friends, I think you fall into that category.

So now that I've spilled my guts, and let you know I was a half crazy bride, what kind of bride were you?? I'd love to hear!

And now that I've got this introspective post out of the way, I can really start recapping. Like the good stuff. I don't come here to tell lies!
