Brain dump

My brain is still a mess. So I'm giving ya a good old fashioned brain dump. Bear with me, it's truly all over the place.

-I seriously am in growth spurt mode. I look so prego these days!

-I just met baby Stella and she is so cute. I'm still a little bit scared to hold someone else's baby before they can hold their head up. Gonna need to work on that. And swaddling?! It's looking a little tough at the moment lol. She opened her eyes pretty wide at the end, and we joked that she recognized the voice of who her "mom yaps with all the time." and probably thought she was in for some Menchie's lol. #teamfroyo

-we went to rockport, tx this weekend and it was gorgeous. I definitely got the tan I was looking for. I even burnt on my shoulders, Which is rather odd for someone like me. Too bad the water was too cold to swim. Boooo on this super long spring, us Texans are ready for the heat!

- as nice as Rockport and Austin have been, I have to admit I'm so glad to be done with road trip palooza. This girl is ready to be home and nest. Two weekends away just exhausted me.

-speaking of nesting and being home, we are thinking we might nix the Babymoon all together. The whole trip just sounds like a waste of money since I'm not in the mood for bathing suits, can't have a drink/ go on excursions/ would truly rather be home. I just want to spend the money on the house and baby. I think my priorities have completely shifted in the past couple of weeks. Some crazy maternal instinct or something.

-leading me to my next topic! I went to buy buy baby for the first time! So looking forward to registering there! It's a million times better than babies r us ... In my humble opinion.

-I am in desperate need of a new Hana blow dryer. My flat hair is just not doing it for me. I miss blowouts and volume. Or need to learn how to tease hair ASAP.

- maternity pillows are everything. That is all.

-I need to work on a closet overhaul. Things that don't fit need to be put away so I can easily see what is possible to wear. Feeling frumpy is no fun, and fighting with my clothes every morning is frustrating. I want to get some good pieces for work and play; add some accessories and belts to feel prepared. I know everyone says only buy a little. But I plan on being pregnant one or two more times, and Texas pretty much has one season, So ya.  Just load me on up! And what's more fun than loaning them out to your friends?

Ok that's it for now. Brain officially feels empty now. Success!

21

My Brain is kind of a jumbled mess this am. Between Easter activities and staying up late to watch the rockets last night, I'm pretty out of it and don't know where I am on any of my to-do lists. Now, onto my bumpdate, to be honest, these surveys are getting a little boring for me. But I did have this this one in the que, and want to be able to look back. Info was written and picture was taken on 21 weeks last Thursday :) Ps. that's Kristen's bathroom, not mine.
How far along: 21 weeks

Baby size: a banana they say. No clue!

Weight gain: 11 pounds, which is two pounds from last week, which is kinda scary. I definitely feel like I grew a lot from last week to this week, definitely more than any other week.

Stretch marks: no, and I’ve been slacking on applying bio oil. I felt like I was stretching a few times this week, like I just F E L T it. Then I would run to the bathroom but there was nothing there. Phew!

Mood: Happy and anxious to get cracking on our third floor makeover. We plan to finally furnish our master suite with big kid furniture, and then move on to the nursery!

Sleep: I had a few moments of eating in the middle of the night to never fall back asleep last week, but I think I’ve gotten the hang of dosing back off.

Gender: Little Miss C! no name yet, I don’t even know if we have serious contenders at point.

Movement:  YES. My little peanut has just been swooshing around in there! Lots of strong flutters and quivers! I haven’t “seen” it yet tho! It’s still very dainty at this point, and always makes me smile.

Best moment this week: Finally feeling strong flutters during the day. I was mostly feeling them at night while laying down, and she’s definitely brightened my work day J  oh and buying three pairs of 1 inch heels shoes! So nice to have prego-friendly shoes.

Looking forward to: Tanning in Rock Port this weekend! And setting a date for our paint party with the fam! We have so much to get done and my sister is coming in one weekend to help us.

Food cravings: salads, sandwiches, jalapeno chips from Schlotsky’s. Nothing too crazy or strong lately. I still hate very salty food. I did have my favorite Austin Tex Mex twice this weekend! I swear it was my motivation to actually drive there.

Anything making you queasy or sick: still an empty stomach. I tried to ditch my daily piece of Zofran (1/8 or 1/16 of a pill) on Monday and Tuesday and got the pukeface both days.  I’m so used to it now that I doesn’t really bother me. Crazy right??

Labor Signs: nopers.

What I miss: feeling pretty / shopping for fun clothes

Symptoms: still mild m/s; and I finally found out why my mouth tastes like pennies sometimes. It’s called dysgeusia. So weird.

Workouts: I finally got a few in.  I really hate to walk because it hurts my lower back, but I am making a point to swim a lot this weekend!

Things that suck: needing maternity clothes, but trying to refrain since paint, wallpaper and furniture expenses are adding up! Very dry hands. I find myself washing my hands so much (constant bathroom breaks! Geesh!) and I guess it’s drying them out. And last but not least, bending over is getting harder. Not impossible yet, but definitely not comfortable.

3rd Floor Makeover

Phew. This weekend was a whirlwind. I am in 3rd floor makeover mode which ='s master bedroom and nursery.  My furniture shopping trip to the Austin / San Marcos this weekend wasn’t as lucky as we hoped either. Actually, we struck out pretty big, but we did plan out our master bedroom makeover. And buy a lot of things we weren't looking for, imagine that! We went to 3 outlet stores, a restored furniture store, and 2 garage sales. YET, This little drawing is pretty much the most important thing we got accomplished!  My sister plotted out the exact pieces we need, including size of all the items, and I’ve got my inspiration and budget hashed out. So groan, I mean yay for that! I also figured out exactly what I want for the nursery (squeal!) and we started the paint swatch debate.

We did find out that Restoration Hardware Outlet in San Marcos is running 40% off til May 4. We'll be checking that place frantically via phone. Maybe other outlets across the nation are too, but I'm not sure so check your local outlet!

We've got a new 'chandelier' project in the works. I'm gonna post the results this Friday for my first installment of furniture Friday!
paint swatching awayyy..
That would be my niece and nephew burying a lizard. LOL. They are so darn funny at this age.
I found a lamp that I am still not at all sure about. I think it's too modern for our house.
and we bought a hutch off craigslist that we plan to start painting soon.

and that was that! let the nesting begin!

Little Drama Queen

Good morning and happy Friday. I write that with very little enthusiasm, because frankly I'm a huge grumposaurus this a.m. Why so grumpy pants? I’m mostly not looking forward to driving to Austin this weekend. I'm headed that way to shop with my sister for the master bedroom and nursery. I’m usually mega-excited about these kinds of weekends, but the thought just exhausts me at the moment.

Anyways. Onto my little peanut and the show she put on for us on Wednesday.  I already think she’s so stinkin’ cute.

First off, I have to say that the equipment and how much information you get while you are pregnant these days is pretty crazy.

I never expected to find out the gender so early, nor did I think I’d call a 1-800 number to ‘hear my results.’ I also didn’t think we’d get 3d pictures of her at 20 weeks, and for free no less!  I have to admit, it has caught us a bit off guard. Oh, and that jelly they rub on your belly for the ultrasound, was warmed up in a package. No longer freezing cold. Weird right?

So once the tech started the ultrasound, Little miss just started hiding from us. She was SO not in the mood to be poked by the ultrasound wand! She may have just been hungry because Matt forgot my breakfast taco, but homegirl was just not feeling it!

They first took me in solo, and took all her measurements. I loved seeing them point out her arms, legs and that she is still a girl! Her little hands just melted my heart :) Everything was intact and looking great, which is definitely a relief. I never thought anything was wrong, but that extra confirmation is wonderful.

Now to the fun part: letting the Hubs in the room. She kept hiding from us and was even more over pictures by the time He came! She kept putting her hands over her face like "leave me alone!" during the 3D pictures. Every time the tech would zoom in on her face, she'd throw her hands over her face!
make them stop mom!
Then she did it again and the tech said "she's such a drama queen!"

Matt and I burst out laughing because he tells me about twice a week to stop being so dramatic.

I can't believe I'm posting pictures of my uterus; because I vowed to not be that mom. But it's so cute and non-creepy when it's your child!

Have a good weekend dears, and pray that my sister goes easy on me. Her energy levels are typically through the roof when it comes to house shopping, so I’ll definitely need it. Who knows, maybe our first nursery purchase will put me on cloud 9 and finally kick my nesting itch into gear! Let's hope so.

20 weeks

This week has been great, even though I'm finally starting to stress about my to-do list. What sticks out the most is how much more attached to her I've become. I touch my belly and smile. Or dance to a song I think she'll like. I'll baby talk to her and say "Why you do that to me, huh?" when I get some indigestion. It's pretty cute to finally start to feel "that bond." My little best friend is just hanging out in there!

The highlight of our week was definitely the 20 week ultrasound. We went to the OGA at Texas Women's Hospital, and the tech took a gazillion pictures and measurements of her before they let Matt in the room. but more about that tomorrow!

How far along?  20 weeks, halfway baby!

Baby size:
A banana

Weight gain:
9 lbs. exactly. Confirmed by the dr. yesterday.

Maternity clothes:
bottoms yes, tops and dresses not so much.

Stretch marks: No. I keep checking myself for pink lines tho! I’m scurred.

Sleep:
Yes, with random spurts of waking up to eat and then having trouble dozing off again.

Gender:
Little Miss C!

Movement:
Yes, when I’m laying down I get the flutters. Mostly at night when I’m about to fall asleep, and in the morning when im still trying to sleep.
J lol

Best moment this week:
Our 20 week appointment and ultrasound. I’ll be tomorrow with pictures and deets, but everything is good! One of the best days of pregnancy so far!

Looking forward to: checking some things off my to do list. Well, just getting started on said to do list really.

Food cravings:
mashed potatoes and corn, banh mi sandwhiches. Eating honey nut cheerios medley crunch multiple times a day.

Weirdest food I ate this week:
nothing too strange really.

Anything making you queasy or sick:
empty belly

Labor signs:
no way.

What I miss:
my go go go attitude

Symptoms:
a dash of so many things! back pain, tailbone pain, queasy moments, pregnancy insomnia, acid reflux? Something weird and related to indigestion. But really, just a dash. I’m so used it and none of it is bothering me.

Workouts:
haven’t had one in a hot minute! Must fix this asap.

Things that suck:
nothing.

Things that don't suck:
flutters and feeling super attached to her
J

A wedding weekend

Man - this prego was T I R E D yesterday. I had no time at all to blog my 19 weeks bump date, but really the only items that stick out pregnancy-wise are tailbone pain, back pain and that’s about it my friends! Nothing a warm bath and maternity pillow can’t fix.  Oh and my love for salads and strawberry smoothies! A very great week in pregnancy land!

I was ridiculously busy with work and my bestie’s wedding last week, and I must have been running on adrenaline. Because after the wedding was over… all I did was sleep! And lay down! And watch the big bang theory! It was definitely a jam-packed day, going from 10 am to midnight. But it was so worth it! I had such a blast. Here are some pictures of Lynette’s wedding this weekend!! And if you are in the Houston area and looking for makeup people, the girls at HeyLovelyMakeup are seriously magical! I mean magical…

A Babymoon question

I know google search pictures are lame, but clearly I've never been here, therefore I can't have a picture.
Babymoon, babymoon. Sigh. Ok, so this is definitely something to be excited about. But being the designated travel planner in the couple can be a little overwhelming sometimes. Not to mention, I’m starting to really think about baby shower dates, paint swatches, nursery, registering, selling my 2-door car and buying a new car. All great stuff no doubt. But ahhh! Good thing I’ve started pinteresting and online browsing this week/weekend, and am finally ready to get to work!

Now back to the babymoon. Matt has requested to stay in the U.S., which pretty much narrows it down to Florida in my mind. BUT. I am wondering if this concern is legitimate, since every babymoon I've ever seen looks super cool and snazzy.

SO Any mom’s or mama’s to be - what do you think? Is leaving to an international destination while pregnant a major no, no?  Or should you take the opportunity to get one last good trip in? Be honest with me! I’ve been dreaming of Punta Cana, but thinking of throwing that one out due to some judgmental stares. I thought baby moons were super legit, but apparently not. Are there any U.S. destinations that I am totally missing??

So, let me know what you think, AND. If you have been to Destin, Florida - I’d love some recommendations!
